Michael Shannon Amused That Flipper Zod ‘Superman’ Theory Was Taken Seriously
Michael Shannon lit the internet on fire when he told Vulture earlier this month that he had trouble using a porta-potty on the set of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice because he had “wax flippers” on his fingers.
Now if Michael Shannon shows up in the film and is wearing flippers, I hope we realize what happened here and remember that Michael Shannon is a bad liar. Naturally this sparked a lot of debate amongst fans, and Shannon has now played down his comments in an interview with The Daily Beast, and in doing so he may have just inadvertently confirmed the inclusion of Doomsday in the DC superhero ensemble. “But people took it seriously”. Even if we assume that the Zod well see in the film was created via CGI and stand-ins, Jor-Els consciousness was only around in Man of Steel because he downloaded a copy of it into the codex before sending his son to Earth.
Shannon says he still hasn’t seen the trailer featuring Zod’s brief appearance. Previous rumors about the film’s plot involved Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor obtaining and experimenting on Zod’s body to build a weapon to defeat Superman – that weapon would be Doomsday, who has also been heavily rumored for the film.
Shannon explained several things regarding his participation in “Batman V Superman” during an interview claiming he was not aware of being part of the project and felt “awkward” about the whole situation because he was in the trailer in the first place, Screenrant reported. Well, didn’t work on much, at least; it turns out that he will be in the movie – in voice.
Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice is slated to release on 25 March 2016.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice stars Henry Cavill in the role of Clark Kent/Superman, and Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman.
Sharing details about his character in the movie, Shannon said that his character will appear more like a “ghost”, the same way Jor-El (Russell Crowe) appeared in the movie “Man of Steel“. “I went over and did some voice-over stuff because it’s like that ghost thing”, he said. I don’t know if I’m supposed to say that.
The actor later added that he gets “very nervous” sometimes and he was not sure if was allowed to make this new revelation about his character.
Fans chose to ignore the ridiculousness of that last part and to interpret his answer as an attempt to let them in on the good news without actually going on the record as spilling the beans. Even Shannon suggests, “Maybe they should add it, I don’t know!”
So what about the getting-locked-inside-a-toilet-with-flippers-for-hands story?
