Starting today you can pre-order your Huawei smart watch

Now, the IFA 2015 tradeshow is coming right up, and naturally, the Chinese device maker will be making an appearance during the event as well. There is a good chance that Huawei will re-introduce it at IFA with more details and finally – a release date and pricing.

The Huawei Watch is up for pre-order on GetHuawei, the Google Store, Amazon and BestBuy. Customers in France, Spain, Italy and Canada will be able to buy it this month, and the UK, Japan and UAE from October. Watches will start shipping on September 17.

Compared to the 10.5mm Pebble Steel, the 9.7mm LG G Watch R, or the really thin 7.9mm ASUS ZenWatch, the 11.3mm Huawei Watch is chunky, and you’ll feel it since on a smartwatch a difference of millimeters actually matters. At its most expensive the Huawei Watch costs 699 Euro, or £515.48.

While we wait for Huawei to make the smartphone official, the folks at French website Nowhere Else are teasing us with a bunch of live images showcasing the Mate S. As you can see, the handset looks pretty sleek, although it doesn’t take advantage of a bezeless design (the bars are still pretty visible).

He said: “The world is moving at an incredible pace and with technology developing at such a fast speed one no longer only wants a product to do one thing alone”.

Huawei has packed the Mate S with a plethora of features as it looks to differentiate itself from other devices on the market. The design is truly closer to traditional luxury watches, though the relocation of the lone crown button to the 2 o’clock position is still debatable. It’s one of more unisex designs we’ve tried and in terms of colours, it’s available in black, steel and rose gold.

As for the rest of the specs, it pretty much falls inline with everything else out there-Snapdragon 400 processor, 300mAh battery, 286 pixel-per-inch AMOLED display (behind fancy scratch-resistant sapphire glass), and of course, running Android Wear 1.3. It also includes a heart rate monitor, a six-axis motion sensor, a built-in microphone, 4GB of internal memory, 512MB of RAM, and it runs Android Wear 1.3. Bluetooth 4.1 LE enables consumers to directly pair to Bluetooth headsets and speakers for music with or without a smartphone.

This voice command also extends to functionality such as searching for- and navigating to destinations.
