‘Under the Dome’ will end run on CBS
A plot description for the finale hints that “many questions about [the dome’s] origin and power will be answered” as “two groups of residents engage in one final conflict”.
As the Dome in Chester’s Mill comes down, the Resistance makes a final attempt to protect the outside world from the infected townspeople in the Kinship and their new queen.
CBS has decided to end the series “Under The Dome” after three seasons, according to Bill Vassar, Executive Vice-President of EUE Screen Gems in Wilmington. But “Under the Dome“, which diverged greatly from King’s novel about residents of a small town trapped under a mysterious dome, meandered through its initial run.
When it first premiered, Under the Dome drew a huge audience of 13.5 million total viewers, and by its freshman finale, the series was still bringing more than 12 million.
The cast is led by Mike Vogel, Dean Norris, and Rachelle Lefevre, and includes Eddie Cahill, Alexander Koch, Colin Ford, Mackenzie Lintz and Kylie Bunbury. And while shows like American Horror Story and Fargo are examples of a new trend of programs that focus on fresh stories and characters in each iteration, it feels like broadcast TV networks can not grasp the overall definition of what the term “event-series” means.
Fox’s “Sleepy Hollow” has relocated to Georgia for its third season and ABC’s “Secrets and Lies” has set up production in Los Angeles for its second season.
The final episode on September 10 will mark the series finale for “Under the Dome“.
CBS is so over Under the Dome. In its most recent episode, Under the Dome was watched 4.6 million viewers and nabbed a 0.9 demo rating. How would you like to see the series end? “So we are not making a decision just yet”, Tassle said at the Television Critics’ Assn. summer press tour in August.
