MTV Video Music Awards: Justin Bieber sheds tears after performance
He started off the killer performance with “Where Are Ü Now” followed by his brand new song, “What Do You Mean?” It appears his fans also shed some tears at seeing the star return with a new single, What Do You Mean, to the VMAs stage. Oh right. Just three hours prior when Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams” video premiere commenced with “A film by Joseph Khan”. The performance, in which he also sung his hit song “Where Are U Now“, was his first major awards show performance in two years. Bieber was then hoisted into the rafters in the harness as he read a passage indicative of the emotional internal roadblock he is trying to surpass-indicated in his interview with Elvis Duran.
But the pop star broke down in tears as he received a standing ovation from the star-studded crowd and struggled to compose himself while host Miley Cyrus tried to move things along. This was Justin’s first VMAs performance in 5 years and he was very nervous about how it might play out. While a lot of his loyal followers loved the performance, his ending pose, which showed him hunched over and crying his eyes out, allegedly gained negative reactions from spectators. Perhaps appreciative to be back on the VMA stage after a half-decade away, Bieber knelt and visibly wept as “What Do You Mean?” ended.
Here are some of our quick reactions to the song and music video release.
