Christina Applegate Is frightful at Playing Meryl Streep in Fake Lifetime Biopic
Thankfully Christina Applegate steps in to right this egregious wrong by badly impersonating Streep in a parody video for amusing Or Die. In a new clip, Meryl: The Lifetime Biopic, Christina Applegate plays Streep, or at least a cartoonishly underprepared version of Streep’s most recognizable characters.
Portraying one of the greatest actresses of this generation isn’t easy.
The unlikely film’s trailer praises Applegate’s appalling acting, saying she gives the “performance of a lifetime”, even if critics aren’t as impressed. Applegate melodramatically sings off-key in Mama Mia, fervently massages a chicken for Julie & Julia, and even smacks a priest as Sister Aloysius Beauvier for Doubt. Do it for me, won’t you? Starring Christina Applegate, the movie will feature awful recreations of her best-known roles and some shocking (but fake) revelations about her life. But maybe all they really need in order to be good is a dose ofMeryl Streep. “Honestly we kind of struggled to find dirt on Meryl, so we made things up”, adds the voice-over, panning to Streep using chopped onions to show emotion. “Forgive me Meryl”, she wrote.
