Federation Internationale de Football Association world ranking: Wales form takes them above England in table
A team boasting the likes of James Collins, Hal Robson-Kanu and Sam Vokes have held on to their record-high ranking of ninth while the pampered Three Lions drop two places to round off the top 10.
The only climber in the top 10 was Chile, winners of the 2015 Copa America, moving from 10 to eighth to swap places with England. “Now we’re doing very well, certain people want to say the rankings are this and they’re that, but the players deserve it”, said Coleman. “I wish it would but they won’t”.
England are now unbeaten in their group, but have dropped down to tenth in the rankings.
Lionel Messi’s Argentina are ranked as number one in the world, with Belgium retaining second spot despite their 1-0 Euro loss in Cardiff.
England remain above Spain – who are 11th – and the Netherlands, who are 12th despite reaching the World Cup semi-finals in 2014.
Scotland have moved up to 32nd and Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland have both fallen a place, to 41st and 51st respectively.
In total, 208 countries make up the rankings and rock bottom are the Bahamas.
Federation Internationale de Football Association have released the latest World Rankings today and there aren’t many notable changes to the order of the standings due to the lack of competitive worldwide matches in the past month.
