TomTom brings music to its Spark fitness wearable
Just like Garmin, TomTom is a company that used to specialize in navigational devices, and while they still do, it seems that the company has followed in Garmin’s footsteps and have released a sports watch that will is also able to double up as a fitness tracker.
TomTom’s aim is to tackle the problem of what to do with your music when you’re working out, so the Spark offers wireless music functions and along with full multisport capabilities. Playlists can also be downloaded to TomTom Spark from iTunes or Windows Media Player.
In a nice promotional wheeze, TomTom will also be including a “Running Trax” playlist with the device, which is a collection of up-tempo tracks to help you run, which has been curated by the Ministry of Sound. The multi-sport mode means that users can track all of their indoor and outdoor sporting activity including running, cycling, swimming, treadmill and gym workouts.
Users can upload their stats via the MySports app and review their stats wirelessly on multiple platforms including TomTom MySports, RunKeeper, Nike+ and more.
Activity tracking is a new feature to the TomTom line-up letting you wear the watch all day and night to monitor steps, calorie burn and sleep, which is done automatically but only records duration. “The unique combination of an integrated music player, built-in heart rate monitor, 24/7 activity tracking, multi-sport functionality and Global Positioning System in TomTom Spark makes it easier than ever for people to get more from their workout, and improve their overall fitness level”.
As is becoming the norm with wearables, the Spark comes in two different strap sizes, and with a bunch of strap colour options to choose from.
The Spark is available to pre-oder from today and will be priced at 249 Euros which works out to about £180.
