IPhone deflects bullet in attempted robbery of Fresno State student
A Fresno State student is lucky to be uninjured after an armed robbery near the campus in which a gunshot fired by the thief was blocked by the victim’s iPhone, police said. He grabbed his computer, tried to pull it away from the victim.
The bullet “skipped off a cell phone in his pocket, causing the phone to break”, Gomez said said.
The suspect ran off with the bag, which contained a silver HP laptop.
An iPhone is being credited with saving a Fresno State student from being shot in the leg.
The violence has some students taking extra precautions.
“I feel like, we need to make sure that you know get the word out there”.
The university says it is reaching out to students in the student newspaper and online to remind them to be careful of their surroundings.
Fresno police say violent crime in the area is down and there have only been four robberies this year. He told his roommate he has no plans to go back to Fresno.
