Lenovo develops Microsoft Surface clone with rear kickstand, watchband hinge
The MIIX 700 will start shipping this November and will start at $699. While we’re expecting Microsoft to announce an update to Surface Pro 3 in a bumper event in October, at the moment it’s still using Intel‘s 4th-generation “Haswell” processors in their 15W Y-series incarnations.
Case in point, Lenovo’s new Miix 700, a 2-in-1 device that was unveiled today at IFA 2015 and that comes with a removable keyboard and an integrated kickstand.
The new Ideapad MIIX 700 laptop features the latest 6th generation Intel Core M7 processors with up to 8GB of memory and up to 256GB of SSD storage.
The 12-inch ideapad MIIX 700 is available with an optional Intel RealSense Camera.
Lenovo chose a similarly sized 12-inch display with 2160 by 1440 resolution.
For those fixated on Apple, Samsung, and Microsoft’s race to create the best tablet ever, Lenovo’s slate launch apparently seem to come straight out of nowhere and from the left field.
For connectivity, the Y700 features Gigabit LAN, 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 for hooking up peripherals. The Lenovo Miix 700 can expand to about 160 degrees and looks sturdy. Gamers will also get to configure the IdeaPad Y700 with dedicated graphics options.
A big audience and lots of media attention are guaranteed for Lenovo’s refreshed product line at Berlin.
The gaming desktops are of particular interest, as all four of the major PC manufacturers now have gaming brands, attempting to mop up the growing gaming PC market. Yet the new ideapad 100S, 300S and 500S laptops are surprisingly affordable, making them the ideal travel companion for those who value portability.
The IdeaPad 100S has two configurations.
Lenvoo Ideapad 500 also offers 14-inch and 15.6-inch Full HD display options with up to 6th generation Core I7 processors, up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of HDD storage.

There is certainly an intimidating array of options to choose from here, but Lenovo’s strategy at least ensures there’s a machine to suit most peoples’ needs. The Y700-15ISK will offer both 1920 x 1080-pixel and 3840 x 2160-pixel multitouch panels. Lenovo says the IdeaPad 300s will go on sale for $479.
The textbook definition of ultraportable laptops, the Lenovo ideapad 300 and 500 are slim and lightweight, with just enough power to satisfy most users.

The IdeaPad 500 is very similar to the IdeaPad 300. Weighing in at 2.1 kg for the 14-inch laptop and 2.3 kg for the 15-inch laptop, both laptops are incredibly compact and mobile.
There is a 14-inch and a 15-inch model.
The IdeaPad 500 is one of the few PCs that have optional backlit keys and optical disc drive. There is one USB 3.0, HDMI and VGA ports, including a 4-in-1 card reader. You can also add on an Intel RealSense 3D camera which supports Windows Hello feature, which lets you log in via facial recognition.
