Men Arrested In Connection To Abilene Police Officer’s Homicide
Violet Walter and Philip Walter were charged with first degree murder Thursday evening for the death of an off-duty Abilene police officer, according to Abilene Police chief Stan Standridge.
It is with bittersweet emotion that I am announcing two arrests in connection to the murder of Officer Don Allen. Both suspects were charged with first-degree felony murder, which carries confinement from 5-99 years, or life in prison.
Abilene and Clyde police are investigating with the assistance of the Texas Rangers and FBI, however Standridge says there isn’t a obvious hazard to the broader group nor regulation enforcement personnel typically.
Specifics of the investigation can not be discussed at this moment, but the police department says they were able to link the suspects to property taken from Don Allen’s residence.
APD says they are “confident that we have taken the correct people into custody”. Police said they don’t believe anyone else is involved in the homicide.
Abilene Police Sgt. Lynn Beard said in an afternoon press conference Thursday that some of the information seen online leading up to the arrests was inaccurate.
