Manchester, NH, police investigate fatal shooting
Manchester, N.H., police are asking for the public’s help after a 62-year-old woman was shot dead while taking a stroll through a quiet neighborhood Sunday evening.
The flag is flying at half staff at the Union Leader where Denise Robert spent the last 32 years.
Before her walk, Robert, a longtime advertising employee for the Union Leader Corp., went to the Executive Health and Sports Center in Manchester, followed by trips to Vitamin World, Wal-Mart and Hannaford.
The loss of Denise Robert is one that is being felt far beyond the building where she worked.
Friends and family said goodbye to a long-time well-known member of the Manchester community.
“She would be embarrassed, because that’s how humble she would be, she would be embarrassed”, Guimont said.
“In our minds we may never comprehend the senseless tragedy that cut Denise’s life short”, said her brother, Arthur Robert.
“I think that’s the most hard part not only for investigators but for the community – how do you make sense of something you don’t yet understand?” he said. Police put up $2,500, an anonymous donor gave $10,000, and the Union Leader donated $5,000 all in an effort to bring Robert’s killer to justice. The oldest of 12 siblings, she lived with her mother and was her caretaker.
