Eddie Redmayne Talks ‘Harry Potter’ Prequel ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to
Eddie Redmayne is pretty keen on doing justice to his role as famed magizoologist Newt Scamander in the Harry Potter spin-off film “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” written by J.K. Rowling.
“The Perks of Being a Wallflower” actor Ezra Miller, on the other hand, will be a wizard named Credence who crosses paths with Scamander at some point, while “Minority Report” actress Samantha Morton will be Mary Lou. As J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World expands, so too will Pottermore, becoming a place to imagine more and share in the world beyond the seven book series. The idea of getting to tiptoe into it felt truly exciting. He added that he is extremely thrilled and hope it will be “quite a ride”.
Fantastic Beasts began filming last month at the U.K.’s Leavesden Studios, where all eight of the Harry Potter movies were shot.

“I’m allowed to say absolutely nothing!” he said.

It has been nearly five years since the last “Harry Potter” film adaptation premiered and nine years since the last installment of the novels were released, but followers of the highly successful franchise have remained steadfast in keeping their fandom alive. “The laws and customs of the hidden magical society will be familiar to anyone who has read the Harry Potter books or seen the films, but Newt’s story will start in New York, seventy years before Harry’s gets underway”, Rowling said, according to Variety. To fans’ great satisfaction, Rowling later announced that Harry’s son had undergone the traditional Sorting Hat ceremony and had been placed into Gyffindor house, following in his father’s footsteps.
