Samsung unveils Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Note 5
One of the most expected tech events of this month is finally consumed and we now have all the details about South Korean manufacturer’s Samsung latest smartphones: Galaxy Note 5 and S6 edge+. The Question is which do you prefer, the Galaxy S6 Edge+ or the Galaxy Note 5? During Samsung’s Unpacked event yesterday, the company teased their next Samsung Gear smartwatch, the Gear S2, and guess what? Otherwise the screen-size, battery, cameras and more are pretty much identical which might make choosing hard.
The Galaxy S6 Edge Plus will be released on September 4 in Europe. Unfortunately, the 128GB version of the S6 Edge+ device isn’t appearing on Samsung’s United Kingdom website.
Not only is the 128GB variant missing, which was introduced with the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge earlier this year, but so is the microSD card slot.
The Galaxy Note 5 uses the same 16-megapixel shooter with optical image stabilization that’s in the Galaxy S6. In addition, both devices will come with similar megapixel lens of 16 MP for the rear and 5 MP for the front-facing camera, which is also capable of recording 4K quality videos (3,840 x 2,160). The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will feature a 5.7″ QHD (1440×2560) display and a pixel density of 515ppi. The Note 5 also comes with a new and supposedly easier to hold S Pen that can be popped out from the phone with one click.
To do that, however, it needs to convince a high number of buyers that the edge display and digital S-Pen – along with the apps to support those – are worth the premium, which could be a tough sell.
Samsung hopes to receive an upper hand in the market before Apple arrives with its upgraded iPhone this year.
