Chloe Grace Moretz Faces An Alien Invasion In The 5th Wave Trailer
Starring Chloe Moretz and Liev Shreiber, The 5th Wave has done something that almost every other popular fictional teenage book series hasn’t been able to do, and that’s creating a trailer that looks to be less about relationships and more about the actual issue at hand.
A trailer has been unleashed for The 5th Wave film adaptation.
Chloe Moretz (Let Me In, Kick-Ass) plays Cassie, a young woman who has survived four successive waves of a massive alien conquest of Earth and is desperately searching for her brother. The stranger lays down his weapon explaining, “I know you’re human because if you were one of them, you would have shot me already”. The film follows Cassie as she lives through an alien invasion by creatures known as “Them”, who have the ability to take on human form. Each cycle of which is called a ‘wave.’ The first wiped out their power, the second brought down the fury of mother nature’s wrath, the third introduced a deadly airborne pathogen and the fourth saw those extraterrestrials invading the planet with infiltrating ground units.
The film will be released January 15, 2016. Against that backdrop, Cassie is trying to rescue her kid brother and – this being a YA story – navigating a potential love triangle. As she prepares for the inevitable and lethal 5th wave, Cassie teams up with a young man who may become her final hope – if she can only trust him.
