Paul Pogba: Juventus turned down offers for midfielder

A new contract would address this while keeping the door open for a potential move and, crucially, protecting the club from the prospect of losing him on a free transfer next summer.

Juventus general manager Beppe Marotta has branded Schalke a “mysterious club” for the way they conducted negotiations over the transfer of Julian Draxler.

“We’ve lost the likes of Pirlo, Tevez and Vidal, three irreplaceable players, against our will and replacing them isn’t easy”, Marotta said. He said it was a very good club with great fans and that the only problem he had was the situation with his coach.

“I’m disappointed not for the fact that we didn’t get him, but that there was nobody to negotiate with”.

He helped them to reach the final of the Champions League last season, where they were beaten 3-1 by Barcelona.

But Marotta suggested that despite losing their opening two Serie A games of the campaign, Juve are strong enough to bounce back.
