‘Daredevil’: check out The Punisher’s guns
Now that season 2 has been billed as “Daredevil vs. Punisher”, fans are chomping at the bit to see Castle’s musclebound anti-hero go toe-to-toe with Charlie Cox’s Murdock, and their rivalry will surely underpin the next batch of episodes when they hit Netflix. He even wanted to be a priest at one time, but due to some big events in his life that led him to “unable to forgive those who did evil”, he eventually chose to forego his dream.
As for Daredevil, the actor has a sizeable void to fill if his villain really is to be more memorable than Vincent D’Onofrio’s scenery-chewing turn as Kingpin. From then on, he embraced the identity of being “The Punisher”. It’s unclear if the photo Bernthal tweeted out is of The Punisher’s own arsenal, or if it’s just a prop house he’s visiting to get acquainted with the tools he’ll be using during the show. Daredevil’s season 2 showrunner, Marco Ramirez also teased that the Punisher could possibly be a “bad guy” for Matt Murdock to fight in the upcoming season. In an interview Dawson commented on the new character saying, “That’s going to raise the stakes so much more, because Matt Murdock nearly behaves like the Punisher in the first season”.
“Jon Bernthal brings an unmatched intensity to every role he takes on, with a potent blend of power, motivation and vulnerability that will connect with audiences”. Furthermore, Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television, also added that “Castle’s appearance will bring dramatic changes to the world of Matt Murdock and nothing will be the same”. He was spotted “choking” a co-actor on the sets of the second season of the Netflix series.
