ComScore: more people than first estimated used Apple Music
Apple Music, previously iTunes Radio, relaunched in June as Apple Music with great fanfare, though a recent report said that it might be having trouble retaining customers for its streaming music service.
Even though Apple Music comes as a pre-loaded iOS app, thereby partially explaining this high ranking, it’s still an impressive figure – particularly since the app isn’t yet available on Android. Apple again took the #1 spot as the top smartphone manufacturer, grabbing a 44.2 percent OEM market share, while Android led the charge as the top smartphone platform with a 51.4 percent share of the platform market.
More broadly, comScore found that smartphone penetration among us consumers has reached 77%.
ComScore legally launched its newest guide chief developments for the Plant handset trade in July 2015, disclosing which typically Apple, Facebook and Facebook Messenger now pilot the fee.
But if you’re Apple, there’s still reason to be optimistic.
Despite uneven reviews from the media, it got off to a decent start; six weeks later, the company announced that 11 million people were using it. That number put Apple Music solidly in the middle of a crowded pack of competitors, far behind Spotify’s 20 million paying subscribers but ahead of Rhapsody’s 3 million and Tidal’s 770,000. The only other music app in the top fifteen widely used apps is Pandora Radio.
While social networking site Facebook remains the top app in the USA, its Messenger app has stolen the number two position from YouTube, a latest U.S. market report has revealed.
ComScore also mentioned that iOS marketshare in the United States has increased by 1.1%, jumping from 43.1% in April to 44.2% in July.
