Matteo Darmian: ‘I feel settled at Manchester United’
Despite Louis van Gaal suggesting that he was only a backup for Antonio Valencia, he has started all six of United’s games this season.
Despite being linked with a move away from the Serie A club – with Galatasaray also interested, as per the aforementioned report – the Torino captain has pledged his commitment to his current employers.
“I want to stay true to myself”. I’ve always been clear, and I’ve never said I want to leave. “Manchester United is a beginning and not the apex of my career”.
The fact he sees United as the beginning of his career is the flawless mindset because there have been plenty of players over the years who took their foot off the pedal after arriving at Old Trafford, as they felt they had arrived at the top. “I’ll respect my contract with Torino”.
However, despite his rise from a mid-table Serie A side to one of the biggest clubs in the world, Darmian is unfazed, and suggests that his ambition stems further than the Theatre of Dreams.
Darmian told United’s website: “I am deciding whether to get a house in the centre or outside of the city”.
Right-back Darmian has contributed to four United clean sheets since making the switch from Torino, and the Italian global has revealed that he already feels settled into life at the Premier League giants.
Darmian has been a regular fixture in Van Gaal’s starting line-up since joining the club earlier this summer.
