Micromax Collaborate With MediaTek On Mid-to-Premium LTE Smartphones

Wireless chip maker MediaTek today announced its Helio chipsets to strengthen its presence in the Indian 4G LTE smartphone market. Micromax will become the first brand to launch devices powered by MediaTek’s new Helio platform.
The company chose to go compact for the Micromax Canvas Fire 4G, so the device sports a 4.5-inch display with an underwhelming resolution of 854 x 480. “The technology is going to change to higher speeds and networks and MediaTek is pleased to collaborate with Micromax Informatics to deliver a stable and affordable 4G handset experience”.
For connectivity, the smartphone offers 3G, 4G (it supports both LTE bands in India, ) GPRS/EDGE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and microUSB.

The Taiwan based company is the largest supplier of SoCs to Indian brands and is now investing heavily on R&D in India with offices in Noida and Bangalore. In the same year, the country could also surpass the US as the 2nd major smartphone market globally. India is MediaTek’s second-largest market after China.
