Patient Airlifted After Highway Crash in Mansfield, Mass.
Unconfirmed reports say the accident happened shortly after 3:00 p.m. on Saturday on 495 Northbound, just south of exit 13.
A two-car accident sent three adults and five children to the hospital with serious injuries, Saturday afternoon.
A State Police spokesperson said that several people, including children, had been injured, but that none of those injuries are believed to be life-threatening. There were also several children in the vehicles.
Police on the scene told FOX25 at least two adults were taken to the hospital in medical helicopters.
A 44-year-old Dudley woman was MedFlighted to Massachusetts General Hospital.
All lanes reopened, but traffic remained backed up in the area.
The crash occurred when a woman, 53, from Plainville lost control of her Lexus RX and veered into a second vehicle, Massachusetts State Police said.
Troopers were assisted on scene by Mansfield and Foxboro firefighters and EMS, and Massachusetts Department of Transportation.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by State Police.
