Trading is halted on NYSE – Business News
Computer glitches interrupted service at The New York Stock Exchange, United Airlines and The Wall Street Journal on Wednesday. The Federal Aviation Administration said all of the air carriers’ flights were grounded because of an outage with the reservations and check-in system. “I believe we’re going to have a temporary pause certainly in a variety of stocks perhaps floor wide”, Art Cashin, director of floor operations at the NYSE, told CNBC. At 12:09 p.m., the NYSE tweeted that it was “experiencing a technical issue that we’re working to resolve as quickly as possible”. Some may be related to connectivity with other exchanges.
Earlier United Airlines temporarily grounded all of its flights due to a technical problem.
“An issue with a router degraded network connectivity for various applications, causing this morning’s operational disruption”, United said in a statement to US Today. “We had some technical problems even before the opening”.
For some time, the homepage was redirecting to what looks like a stripped-down version of the Journal’s homepage, but now the full homepage appears to be back up.
The front page of the Wall Street Journal’s website, wsj.com, is back online after suffering from technical glitches.
The United States Department of Homeland Security said there was no indication of anything “malicious” at the NYSE.
