Neither the 11-year-old nor the 4-year-old were injured during the attempted home invasion.
A little boy shot and killed a burglar who broke into his house while he was home alone with his younger sister. It is not yet clear as to whether or not the incident was a home invasion.
The dead teen is identified as Lamonte Streeter, who only lived a few blocks away from this home. The intruders reportedly broke in through the front door. Neighbors have come forward to say they witnessed the shooting and that it didn’t happen in the home, it happened on the front porch.
The intruders made several other attempts to enter the home Thursday before finally succeeding through the unlocked front door, authorities said.
“It was not a break-in”, Jackson told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, “He shot him in the head”.
When police arrived after the shooting near St. Louis, they found a 16-year-old suspect in the home’s foyer, dead of a gunshot wound to the head, according to Fox-2 in St. Louis.
The second suspect is believed to have fled when shots were fired, but was later caught and arrested. Police believe the 16-year-old was killed as he was trying to break into the home. Their mother said she’d purchased the gun for protection after previous home invasion attempts.
