Mercedes-Benz Confirms Work on Tesla Rival
In an interview with German publication auto motor und sport, Weber said, “We are working on an intelligent concept for a highly attractive electric vehicle with a range of 400-500 kilometers”, adding that the car would come “soon”. Importantly, it hasn’t been created as an answer to the Model S as the company has been developing electric cars for a number of decades.
When asked if this upcoming Tesla fighter would be based on the A or B Class, Weber said “Perhaps, but perhaps greater, because our innovative approach will naturally be used not only for a single vehicle.” The electric market isn’t an unexplored frontier for Mercedes, either.
What Mercedes-Benz has and Tesla Motors doesn’t is a full range of different models, and according to Thomas Weber the new powertrain will fit neatly in a lot of the brand’s current and future products.
Ola Kallenius, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG, responsible for Mercedes-Benz Cars Marketing & Sales: “Our strong growth in the Asia-Pacific region made a key contribution to the good sales performance of Mercedes-Benz in August”.
German luxury vehicle manufacturer Mercedes Benz recorded total sales of 1,39,802 units in August 2015, 17.6 percent up from same month previous year.
You can’t speak about Mercedes-Benz without mentioning its two main rivals, BMW and Audi.
