Chris Moyles to return to breakfast radio as XFM becomes Radio X

Radio X is a brand new national radio station, available digitally and via FM in London and Manchester, and is replacing XFM as the home of the best fresh rock and guitar-based music across the UK.
But goes on to say that regulars on the playlist will include Florence & The Machine, Mumford & Sons, Blur, Arctic Monkeys, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, The Maccabees, Radiohead, Nirvana, The Smiths, Royal Blood, Kasabian, Catfish & The Bottlemen and Kings of Leon.
Tim Cocker has been axed from the Xfm breakfast show to be replaced by Chris Moyles in a shake-up of the radio station.
“There is a real buzz around the station because we know that this is going to be a lot of fun… I’ve said I’ll get figures up and make them money if they let us get on with it”.
He’s also poached Radio 1 producer Pippa Taylor, who’s previously worked alongside Grimmy, to produce his new show. “Even though it’s years since I left”.
“They were right there for us and many, many other bands from the very beginning of their histories, through all incarnations, career ups and downs, break-ups and comebacks”.
Founder and executive president of Global Ashley Tabor said: “Radio X will focus on fresh rock and guitar-based music alongside huge personalities”.
Launched by Global Radio, Radio X aims to be the “first truly male-focussed” station, targeted at 25-44 year olds.

The DJ will be hosting a new breakfast show on Radio X – a re-branded and re-launched version of XFM – starting on Monday September 21 at 6.30am.
Chris Moyles will be joined by Vernon Kay for mid-mornings, Johnny Vaughan at drive and Ricky Wilson at weekends completing the all star line-up. Radio X will be broadcast across the United Kingdom on the digital radio platform D1 as well as on 104.9FM in London and 97.7FM in Manchester.
