RG3 appears to like ‘impeach Snyder’ post on Instagram
Gruden said he knows Griffin’s presence could become a distraction, especially to Cousins.
So with Griffin out, Coach Gruden has put the team in the hands of Kirk Cousins, who is entering his fourth year in the league.
Cousins’ numbers to date suggest otherwise but Shanahan explains that a balanced offense is the key. “… It’s Kirk’s team”. “I just feel like Kirk right now gives us the best chance”.
The issues at the quarterback position for the Washington Redskins specifically with Robert Griffin III are not done yet. “We’re impressed with the progress that Kirk has made very much”.
While Cousins performed well in the preseason, it’s no secret that there are many quarterbacks who looked good against weak defenses in the preseason only to be exposed during highly-important games. He spent most of the week recovering from a concussion and shoulder stinger. “I’d like to pick one as soon as I could so we could try to work and grind on him and develop him”, he said. Gruden said the team did everything “by the book” regarding National Football League concussion protocol which requires clearance from an independent neurologist. He took a hit to the knee late in a game mid-season, and Cousins was brought out to finish the game and start against the Cleveland Browns while RG3 recovered.
“Kirk has done an outstanding job”, he said.
In the wake of his demotion, which would be shocking if not for the frequently reported-on tension that exists between Griffin and Gruden, a social media flap has ensued. The Redskins even have had trade conversations about Griffin with a handful of teams, but they have found no interest, according to sources.
Cousins played majority of the snaps in their game against the Ravens completing 20 of his 27 passes for 190 yards and one touchdown, although he threw an interception. After all [that was] invested in Robert it’s unfortunate that we’re at the point that we say that, and I think the ceiling for Robert as viewed by all was higher. I had to learn that for myself a couple years ago, going through my situation.
