IK Enemkpali has been cut loose by the Buffalo Bills

McKelvin’s new designation – he had been on active/physically unable to perform list – means that he no longer counts toward a roster spot. It seemed like a good fit because Rex Ryan coached him with the Jets and is entering his first season with Buffalo.

It turns out Jets quarterback Geno Smith might be getting the last laugh when it comes to his tiff with ex-teammate IK Enemkpali, who punched Smith in the locker room last month and broke his jaw.

Simms was the fourth quarterback behind starter Tyrod Taylor, Matt Cassel and EJ Manuel throughout the preseason. He didn’t make the final roster, though, and was released by Buffalo on Friday. Asked what that lesson is in this case, he said, “I’ll keep that to myself”. “If there’s somebody that we feel can help our team regardless of the position, then we’ll certainly look at it”. He played in just six games with the Jets a year ago, racking up two tackles.

Rounding out the cuts were receivers Andre Davis and Tobais Palmer, running backs Bronson Hill and Cierre Wood, offensive linemen Will Campbell, Darryl Johnson and Alex Kupper, defensive end BJ Larsen and cornerback Merrill Noel. If he clears waivers between Saturday’s cutdown deadline and Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m., the Bills still have the option of placing him on their practice squad.
