Nokia C1 Android phone leaks out in new renders
Leaked renders and live images of the first Android smartphone from Nokia have confirmed that the former handset market leader is getting ready to make a comeback.
There’s plenty of demand for a new Nokia smartphone after Microsoft took over the Lumia branding. Either way, it looks like Nokia is very much committed to producing smartphones once again, running the Android operating system. Following the acquisition of its mobile division by Microsoft, Nokia can not release smartphones under its brand name until 2016, as per the agreement between the two companies.
According to previous speculations, the Nokia C1 Android smartphone will feature a 5 inch display with a resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels. The previously leaked images showed the device in its conceptual stage, but this week the folks over at GSM Dome stumbled upon a couple of images on Weibo that presumably depict the C1 smartphone in the flesh. The company is reportedly holding discussions with Chinese smartphone-tablet maker Foxconn for building its first Android smartphone.
What we can see in the new images is a smartphone with a white matte display and a promising screen-to-body size ratio.
Nokia had recently launched its first Android tablet, the Nokia N1, in China where the device received a tremendous response due to its performance and attractive pricing. The Nokia C1 will sport an 8-megapixel rear camera along with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It’s interesting then to see the render followed just days later by these live photos that largely appear to tie in with the earlier leak. What is even more exciting is the software it will be running on, which is Google’s new Android Marshmallow 6.0, unveiled during this year’s I/O event in summer.
At last, after lots of denial from the side of Finnish company Nokia, the first handset from Nokia dubbed C1 has been spotted on the Internet.
