Sheridan Smith wowed critics with her portrayal of national treasure Cilla Black in the ITV drama about her life shown a year ago.
She said: “Obviously it’s tinged with sadness but we have Cilla’s son Robert here. An honour to play such an inspirational lady”.

Broadchurch, Poldark and EastEnders were amongst the big winners at tonight’s (September 7) TVChoice Awards, hosted by Lenny Henry.
Broadchurch was the another big victor at this year’s ceremony – the ITV crime drama was voted best drama series, while star David Tennant won best actor for the second year.
Sheridan, 34, spoke of the emotions surrounding this last night when she picked up the Best Actress award for her role as Cilla at the TV Choice Awards in London and movingly paid tribute to the late star. (Best Reality Show) and Britain’s Got Talent (Best Talent Show) also won their categories. “I think yours is a better show”. Get Me Out Of Here! It’s so nice it’s voted by readers of TV Choice.
Meanwhile, Her greatest hits album, ‘The Very Best Of…’, topped the United Kingdom album charts the week of her funeral, with the president of East West Records saying at the time: “This Number 1 is a reflection of the special place Cilla Black occupied in the hearts of the British public”. Davood Ghadami (Kush Kazemi) took the Best Soap Newcomer award back to Walford and the residents of Albert Square celebrated winning Best Soap.
