Hardik not allowed to take out march
“The administration denied permission because 33 OBC-dominated coastal villages had threatened to oppose the March”. They want to instigate clash among communities.
“We have decided to postpone our Dandi yatra from its scheduled date of September 6 to September 13 as the scared government did not give us permission to hold it tomorrow”.
The district administration denied permission for the March citing the law-and-order situation and festive season in the State. Hardik had taken a similar stand for Sunday’s yatra as well. “Even if we don’t get the nod, we will go ahead”. The Patel leader who has hogged the limelight following over a hundred rallies and the violence as the main face of the agitation, had on September 1 announced in Surat the “Reverse Dandi March” to press for their demands.
Speaking to media persons in Assembly premises here, VHR said Hardik Patel enjoys the full backing of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Modi and BJP President Amit Shah. We will see to it that they don’t come to Dandi.
He called the idea of a reverse Dandi march “absurd”.
Hardik said Patel leaders in villages en route to this march are given the task of strengthening the organisation over the issue. “The march is a political stunt”.
Sources in the collector’s office said for such marches, organizers must apply with the authorities of all talukas, mention the strength of the members joining the march and other relevant details before permission could be granted.
Hardik, however, justified his move, alluding to Mahatma Gandhi’s 1930 trek from his Sabarmati ashram to Dandi after the British imposed tax on salt.
