‘Daredevil’ season 2 spoilers: ‘The Butler’ star signs on
Season 2 of “Daredevil” is expected to debut on Netflix in 2016. The Butler star Stephen Rider has joined the cast as a series regular and notable Marvel figure, helping keep Daredevil in business come Season 2. Confirmed returning cast members are Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock / Daredevil, Elden Henson as Franklin “Foggie” Nelson, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, and Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple.
Rider joins the cast of Daredevil as Blake Tower: a New York City District Attorney who feeds information to Charlie Coxs Daredevil, and aids in his heroic efforts.
Those familiar with Marvel comics will recognize Tower as a minor character in the universe, similar to Ben Urich – although we all saw how major Vondie Curtis-Hall’s portrayal of that character became to the TV show in Season 1. As a NYC D.A., Tower had a good working relationship with Captain America, Daredevil, She-Hulk, and Misty Knight.
By the way, in the comics, Blake Tower is actually white, so this is a bit of colorblind casting on Marvel’s part. Joining them will be Elodie Yung as Elektra and Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle.
Luke Cage can’t have all the fun.
Billed as “Daredevil vs. The Punisher”, season 2 will see another vigilantly enter the scene. Becasue both Tower and Murdock make their livings as lawyers, they will likely see a great deal of one another during both the day and nighttime hours.
“Daredevil” season 1 is now available for viewing on Netflix.
