Kyrie Irving To Return To Cleveland Cavaliers Before 2015 Ends
Bucher does have a point, in that it would be a very bad look for LeBron to again leave Cleveland after his triumphant return last offseason, but nothing is ever guaranteed.
Everyone is aware of the sudden decision James made to bolt the Cavs and join the Heat in 2010, not to mention his sudden return to the Cavaliers last season.
Despite the reports from last week, which stated there was a possibility that Kyrie Irving might not be ready to play until January, the Cleveland Cavaliers are fully expecting Irving to be in their lineup “well before” that.
No one knows for sure, as Irving is recovering from surgery to fix a fractured knee cap. Johnson is on the trading block so they are in dire need for a main contributor like Thompson so the pursuit for him will be a big push. From a team-building perspective, the Cavs are better off maxing him out than watching him accept the qualifying offer. Cleveland’s training camp will begin in less than one month.
Even if Irving’s knee is in excellent shape, they plan to cut his minutes early in the season. Originally, the Cavaliers announced Irving’s recovery timeline as three to four months after undergoing surgery. Both games will be played at 7 p.m.
Cook was Duke’s second leading scorer with 15.3 points per game on 45.3 percent shooting, and added 3.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1 steal in his 35.8 minutes per game. Right now, Thompson and the Cleveland Cavaliers are at a standstill with contract talks as the power forward has no intentions of taking anything less than a max contract.
LeBron James has been suspiciously quiet on the matter, as it was believed that one of the sticking points for him to return would be a deal that brings back Thompson next season. It would be reasonable to expect the player to play around November or December, unless he encounter a major setback in his physical rehab.
To compensate for Irving’s absence, the team is expected to include Mo Williams in their roster.
Obviously, this isn’t optimistic news for Cavs fans, who saw Thompson become an elite offensive rebounder during Cleveland’s run to the National Basketball Association Finals. With the addition of Williams, the Cavaliers will not have to depend exclusively on Matthew Dellavedova.
