Sheena Bora murder :Sanjiv Khanna’s lawyers likely to seek his release
The application was moved after the court was informed that the Kolkata court refused to hear the Mumbai police’s application seeking Khanna’s one-day remand. Khanna, who was produced in the Bandra Metropolitan Magistrate court here, earlier today filed an application before a court here saying that he is in illegal detention and should be released forthwith.
While Indrani and Rai were sent to judicial custody by a Mumbai magistrate on Monday, Khanna was taken late on Sunday to Kolkata for further investigation.
The mandatory period of 14-days for police custody of all the three had ended yesterday. According to police, Sheena was murdered on April 24, 2012.
With shocking revelations surrounding the sensational murder case of Sheena Bora, it was already expected that some writer or director would come forward to make a film on it. Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt had said the case has caught hi fancy and he had a script which was strikingly similar to the incident.
DNA samples of the bones and skull were compared with that of samples collected from Indrani and Sheena’s brother Mikhail Bora.
Police questioned Peter Mukerjea and asked a team consisting auditors, chartered accountants and Economic Offences Wing officials to examine his accounts.
Indrani Mukerjea is a former head of INX Media and is married to Star TV ex-CEO Peter Mukerjea.
Police had last week claimed that Indrani had confessed to murdering Sheena, her 24-year-old daughter, and were investigating if someone else could have been involved in the murder.
Sheena was allegedly strangled in a auto, then her body was burnt and dumped at a forest in Raigad, about 84 kms from Mumbai.
