Range Rover & Land Rover LR4 Can’t Keep It Together – Autoomobile
The largest number of recalled SUVs need repairs to make sure the doors don’t fly open while cruising down the highway.
Land Rover will be issuing two recalls that will be affecting the Range Rover as well as the Land Rover LR4. Some 65,352 of them are being recalled because of a glitch in the doors latches that can cause them to fly open unexpectedly while driving. A short-circuit can turn the keyless entry motor into a brake and slow or stop the keyless lever from returning to its “home” position.
Certain 2013 to 2016 Range Rover and 2014 to 2016 Range Rover Sport models are affected by the issue, which can lead to the doors opening inadvertently while the vehicle is in motion. In this case, the glass can completely dislodge from the vehicle and fly away.
The Problem: Due to the use of an incorrect primer, the panoramic roof adhesive may not adequately secure the roof assembly; this insufficient bond may result in the roof assembly detaching from the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. Land Rover’s LR4 models manufactured between August 15, 2012 and September 18, 2012 are also on the recall list.
Land Rover owners affected by the recall are encouraged to contact local dealers for immediate fixes.
