Three young men charged with 2014 murder of Nicholas Hannon
Three men have been charged with murder in connection with the death of 19-year-old Nicholas Hannon.
Nicholas Hannon was last seen by his younger brother at their Walnut Grove home the evening of February 26, 2014. RCMP found Hannon’s vehicle in the 10400 block of McKinnon Crescent and an investigation into his disappearance was launched.
From the onset of this investigation there were key factors that raised concerns for investigators and as such the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team was engaged early on to offer assistance and liaise with the Langley investigative team throughout.
IHIT assisted with the missing person case from the start and in April 2014, said there was enough evidence to support the theory that Nicholas had met with foul play.
Jennifer Pound said. “To have three people charged with first-degree murder is a huge success”.
Bradley Flaherty, Keith Tankard and Connor Campbell are expected in court today.
Sgt. Pound said the three accused were “acquaintances, if not friends” of Hannon.
“We believe [Nicholas’ death] was as a result of conflict that turned violent and ultimately deadly”, said S/Sgt.
Investigators have also been able to locate Hannon’s remains in a heavily wooded area in Morris Valley, which is located in the Mission area. An autopsy is scheduled for later this week.
“Nick is gone forever”, his father, Craig Hannon, told reporters at a news conference Tuesday.
“We are devastated and we are betrayed”. “There’s always that hope for the family that their loved one is going to walk through the door”.
“Our hearts go out to the family”, she said.
Craig Hannon describes his son as a wonderful, loving boy who had a smile that lights up the room.
“Never again will he lovingly piggyback his lovely niece up and down the stairs and all around the house”.
