New teaser for Ridley Scott film ‘The Martian’
The Martian will hit theaters on October 2nd. It’s tense, well-acted and establishes the visual style of the film, but it’s also kind of a uneven choice for a first clip release, since it drops the viewer right in the action (and an onslaught of scientific jargon) with little to no understanding of the characters or circumstance.
The first full clip has appeared online from The Martian in which Matt Damon’s merry band of astronauts find themselves on a collision course with a dauntingly powerful space-storm… and decide to head out onto Mars’ surface regardless. The trailer follows his journey as he finds himself stranded and alone on the planet after his crew presumes him dead and leaves him behind. Struggling to survive with only meager supplies, Watney manages to get a signal to
140 million miles stand between Watney and his safety in this science fiction film, but his spirit throughout the journey gives this film a feel-good edge.
Earth, leading NASA to search for a way to bring “the Martian” home, even as his own crew hatches a daring – and seemingly impossible – rescue plan. As these stories of unbelieveable bravery unfold, the world comes together to root for Watney’s safe return.
An all-star cast, including Damon’s Interstellar co-star Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids), Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave), Sebastian Stan (Captain America: The Winter Soldier), Michael Pena (Ant-Man), Kate Mara (Fantastic Four), Jeff Daniels (Speed) and Sean Bean (The Lord of the Rings), all join Alien and Prometheus director Ridley Scott’s ride.
