SC hands over Vyapam probe to CBI – Sakshi Post
Yadav was a witness in the constable recruitment scam in which three accused, identified as Azharuddin, Naeem and Kaseem, all residents of north-Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, were arrested.
Yadav and his son Shailesh Yadav were accused in 2014 by the Special Task Force of the state police which is investigating in the scam. He changed his mind after the rising death toll in the scam triggered national and worldwide headlines. “But yes it is true he was a key witness in the scam”, Singh told ANI here.
The Supreme Court has taken up pleas for a CBI probe in the Vyapam scam on Thursday as Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan declared on Wednesday that he would also back such a request in the apex court but ruled out resignation from the post.
Earlier, two whistleblowers in the scam approached the Supreme Court, seeking a CBI probe into mysterious deaths of witnesses in the case. Speaking to media after meeting the family Mr Chouhan said, he has assured the family of an unbiased investigation into the death of Singh.
“It is my mission in life to get to the bottom of this”.
Chouhan said: “This family has lost everything”.
If the horrid accounts by the whistle blowers are any indication to go by then we are sitting on the heap of a silent volcano which has all the potential to become live, the moment CBI starts the probe as skeletons will start stumbling from the cupboard which will embarrass the Shiv raj Singh Chauhan government further. I think they should be in Delhi and we have MP Bhavan where the job could be given.
On Monday, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had said that the probe by Special Investigation Team into Vyapam scam was being monitored by the MP High Court and the government can not direct the court to hand it over to CBI.
Meanwhile in Jabalpur, a two judge bench of the High Court comprising chief justice Ajay Manikrao Khanwilkar and justice Alok Aradhe deferred the hearing on the ground that the Supreme Court is to hear a clutch of similar pleas tomorrow.
