Southwest Airlines plane engine catches fire at Midway Airport
One passenger saw smoke and flames shooting out of the engine. No one was hurt in the fire. The flight was headed to Logan worldwide Airport in Boston.
A Southwest Airline plane aborted its takeoff from Midway Airport when an engine caught fire. Firefighters were able to put out the fire and secure the aircraft. Cellphone video shows a ball of fire emerging from under the wing.
All 143 passengers were taken off the plane, put on buses and returned to the terminal, where they were switched to another flight overnight. WCVB No one was harmed and all of the passengers were rebooked onto a replacement flight.
It was not clear immediately what caused the fire, and the incident is still under investigation.
He said, “It was mind-boggling, it was really scary”. ‘Wow, you know, life is pretty incredible, ‘”he told NENC”.
