FEMA disaster assistance deadline today

On July 2, Carter, Jefferson, Latimer, Mayes, Okfuskee, Okmulgee, Pushmataha, Stephens and Tulsa counties were approved for state and federal disaster assistance for damage between May 5 and June 4.

OKLAHOMA CITY – July 8, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) – More than $26 million has been granted to Oklahomans, helping to rebuild the lives of families and businesses impacted by the recent storms.

FEMA has had up to 88 Disaster Survivor Assistance specialists going door-to-door in the affected counties.

To apply, visit disasterassistance.gov or call 800-621-3362. DRCs are one-stop shops where survivors can get information and guidance on the disaster assistance that may be available. Multilingual operators are available.

Team members will help survivors register for disaster assistance, provide information on applications and help determine ongoing needs, among other duties.

The offices will open at noon Wednesday and thereafter will be open from 9 a.m.to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday until further notice.

To expedite service, survivors are encouraged to register for federal disaster assistance prior to visiting a DRC.

Local and federal officials are still working to notify residents with damaged property about the available assistance, as well as work with long-term recovery volunteers who can lend a hand to help in clean up properties.

Disaster assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-priced loans to cover uninsured property losses, and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the effects of the disaster. It could mean more information is required to make a determination.
