Bungie Releases Destiny: The Taken King’s Cinematic Trailer
The update will radically change several of the game’s core systems, basically paving the way for The Taken King’s September 15 launch. Bungie stated that anyone with a storage problem should contact Destiny’s publisher; Activision.
Music O’Donnell had created for Destiny with Sir Paul McCartney was changed with music made by Activision for a trailer in 2013, according to the suit and O’Donnell was not pleased. He served as the music composer for “Destiny” and the “Halo” series. Gamers who are running such consoles are required to register with Activision. The ruling notes how Bungie employees – including CEO Harold Ryan – felt that O’Donnell was having a negative effect on the company thereafter. Destiny will take all of your owned items into consideration before assigning you the highest level possible. He was angry.
It was an unexpected move that angered O’Donnell, prompting him to rebel against the company in an attempt to “preserve Bungie’s creative process, artistic integrity, and reputation”. Shortly thereafter, O’Donnell and Bungie were at odds. Meanwhile, Harold Ryan felt that O’Donnell’s actions had “hurt the Bungie team, hurt the game, drove a negative online discussion, and violated [his] instructions”.
Of most interest to Destiny fans in all of this, however, is likely the numerous details of the game’s troubled development and behind the scenes friction at Bungie. I mean the new bow and hammer are just a few of the jaw dropping items I’m looking forward to testing.
Destiny’s story was “substantially revised” a year before launch, which sort of explains why it was so… meh. This is the first proper confirmation. But as sales broke records, some critics asked, where was the deep, expansive story Bungie had boasted about before release? What we don’t know is precisely why. All we have left of the original game is incredible concept art and scraps and pieces of tales from playtesters who reveal a wholly different story that actually had soul and depth. Their trailer, despite being fantastic and lovely, revealed less than what fans expected.
