A bunch of new details about the next Tesla just emerged
Buyers can opt for “Ludicrous” acceleration, dropping the time to 3.2 seconds, though the option costs an extra $10,000. The top speed for the vehicle is 155 miles per hour (250 km/h) and it can accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour (96 km/h) in 3.8 seconds. For a first generation electric SUV which has taken a lot of lessons learned from the Tesla Model S and implemented them into the Model X, it’s a rather refined product.
With its Fremont factory now ready to produce its long-awaited Model X crossover SUV, Tesla Motors [NASDAQ:TSLA] has officially opened early online configuration for existing reservation holders of the Model X Signature Series, Transport Evolved is happy to report.
It’s still not visible on the company’s website – but if you put down a deposit ahead of time, Tesla is now letting you spec out your inaugural Model X Signature Series crossover, representing some of the very first production vehicles that roll off the line.
Reservation for the Model X is now live – for Model X Signature Series customers. An entry-level Model X should fetch somewhere in the neighborhood of $100,000 to $110,000, but Tesla hasn’t released pricing yet for the full range.
For example, if a buyer decides to upgrade and get the Subzero Weather Package, which includes a heated steering wheel and wiper blade defrosters, it could delay delivery up to one month.
The SUV will also be able to tow vehicles or any other object, as the company is offering an optional towing pack for $750.
The Signature series comes with so-called Autopilot features such as self parking, air suspension, satellite radio, ventilated leather seats with heating and cooling, three independently operable, adult-size second-row seats, and a flat- folding, two-adult third-row seat.
While the production version of the Model X features proper wing mirrors, altered tail-lights, and slightly revised side window shapes, it still features the “falcon wing” rear doors of the 2012 concept auto.
Tesla via Tesla Motors Club forum With unique gullwing doors that allow easy access in tight spaces, the Model X could be a game-changer for luxury SUVs. For $5,000, customers can reserve their space in the queue for the high-tech vehicle, with deliveries expected early in 2016. However, Model X isn’t as wild in Ludicrous Mode as its preceding.
