A Closer Look At Rupert Murdoch’s ‘Real Black President’ Tweet
The White conservative media mogul who owns the Fox News Channel was trying to rally support around Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson, the sole Black presidential candidate, by attacking Obama.
Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson appeared in an interview with Wolf Blitzer on CNN and expressed his support for Rupert Murdoch regarding his tweets about the blackness of Carson in comparison to President Obama. He said that his comment was in response to an article in New York Magazine, which listed the different ways President Obama has not succeeded in aiding communities of color.
The CNN host admitted that Murdoch has apologized for the comment in a tweet that stated: “Apologies. No offense meant. Personally find both men charming”.
Blitzer’s question came in response to this tweet by News Corp CEO Rupert Murdoch on Wednesday. “I think it’s much ado about nothing”.
“I know Rupert Murdoch”. “He’s not a racist by any state of the imagination”. “You believe the president is a real black president, right?” the newsman asked.
Carson again tried to conclude the topic by saying: “Well, he’s the president and he’s black.”
“We’re dealing with semantics, as you know, I’m the last person who wants to play around with semantics and political correctness…Murdoch said what he said”.
Former Obama aide and current CNN commentator Van Jones, said on that network that he found Murdoch’s tweet “outrageous and disgusting”, and said that Fox News had done more to undermine Obama than any news organization had ever done for a president.
“How can you have someone like Rupert Murdoch, with all his wealth and power, stoop so low to challenge somebody’s ethnicity?” he asked.
