A giant sinkhole has opened up in Brooklyn
It happened about 7 a.m. near 64th Street and Fifth Avenue in the Sunset Park neighborhood (map). Theodore Parisienne/for New York Daily News It was not immediately clear if water service to nearby homes and businesses were affected by the hole.
No injuries have been reported, but two people are seen on the video walking by moments before the street starts to open. It is unclear when the water will be turned back on.
Crews at the scene: City officials have cut water to nearby homes and businesses. The footage of the sinkhole shows at least one disconnected pipe, but there is no word if water service has been impacted.

National Grid workers arrived quickly on the scene and began securing the exposed gas lines.
