A.J. Green carted off with hamstring injury
A pair of third-place teams knew exactly what this one meant.
Four of the Bengals’ next six games are against AFC North opponents. Cincinnati did made one last push in the final two minutes, but came up short in Bills territory as time ran out.
It feels like anyone who watched or was part of this debacle was a loser, but Cincinnati is the team who is now 3-6-1 after a 16-12 defeat by the Buffalo Bills. After another three and out, it was Kyle Williams’s turn to make a big play on a day when the veteran defensive lineman was an absolute terror. The Bills missed just three tackles against the Bengals, and it was the third straight game in which they have only missed three tackles.
On the Bengals ensuing drive, Cincinnati only managed 23 yards on five plays with the Bills forcing a punt.
“He [Harris] told me that afterwards, but to be honest with you, it didn’t mess me up. If we are healthy, we are going to be pretty tough”.
The 3-6-1 Bengals travel to M&T Bank Stadium to take on the Baltimore Ravens next Sunday. He has yet to make his first touchdown catch of the season. “It’s depressing. It’s nerve-wracking”.
Cincinnati’s slim hopes of making the National Football League play-offs faded further on Sunday after standout wide receiver A.J. Green and running back Gio Bernard went down with possible season-ending injuries in their 16-12 loss to Buffalo. The durable receiver didn’t bend his leg as he was helped to the sideline and taken to a cart, an indication it was serious. Bengals Coach Marvin Lewis had no details on the extent of the injury, but it seems Cincinnati may be without its star receiver for the foreseeable future.
“You never want to lose a guy like that, ” Dalton said. In total, the Bills piled up 183 rushing yards with six different runners. His backup, Mike Gillislee came in and amassed 72 yards on 14 rushes. Tyrod Taylor led the game in passing, completing 19 of 27 attempts for 166 yards. “It wasn’t pretty by any means, but we got a win and that’s all that really matters”.
Britt had 109 yards on seven receptions in Week 10, and he’s scored three touchdowns over the last four games. He has been ruled out for the rest of the game.
“It’s a look-at-me-now moment”, Bills linebacker Preston Brown said.
The second half was all Bills, at least defensively were able to find their form and some consistency.
If Green is out, the Bengals are suddenly left with Brandon LaFell, Tyler Boyd, James Wright, and Tyler Eifert as their top pass-catchers.
On the other side of the ball, Andrew Luck continued his run of elite mid-season play.
“It’s always a big factor (losing a player like Green)”, running back Jeremy Hill said.
Nugent tried to compensate for the wind, and wound up kicking them too far right.
But the struggles continued for kicker Mike Nugent, who missed his second extra point, giving the Bengals only a 12-10 lead. “That’s the second time that’s happened this year, that I’ve contributed enormously to a loss”. “I’m glad he’s been healthy all year because he is what our Buffalo fans and the community-that’s him- he represents everything we are all about”.
