A.J. Green will not play vs. Texans

The Houston Texans have made a change a quarterback and everyone seems to be talking about it. Brock Osweiler lost his starting job last week after his struggles continued and now Tom Savage has been given the keys to the team. Houston is 5-0 in the division, so they hold the tiebreaker, but they’d still be well off to win these final two games in order to make the postseason. Tonight’s game features the Houston Texans against the Cincinnati Bengals. Bullock, who was drafted by the Texans in 2012, made a 43-yard field goal in the second quarter before his miss that would have won the game.

The Texans wrap up the 2016 regular season on January 1st against Tennessee.

“It was just taking a deep breath and realizing what we have on defense, what they’re doing for us”, Savage said.

There are only three longer pass plays in Bengals history – 94 yards from Ken Anderson to Billy Brooks vs. Minnesota in 1977, 90 yards from Virgil Carter to Speedy Thomas vs. Philadelphia in 1971, and 88 yards from Jeff Blake to Darnay Scott vs. Seattle in 1995. “Everyone rallies together and fights for each guy on this team and the coaching staff and I think today was a prime example of it”.

Dalton was 28 of 41 for 268 yards with a touchdown and an interception. But after a slow start, the Texans’ running back group combined for 95 yards on 24 carries.

“Absolutely. It was exactly what I wanted”, the 27-year-old said.

“I thought it was getting into a little rhythm”, Savage said of the offense.

Blue had 73 yards on 21 carries in relief of Lamar Miller, who missed the game with an ankle injury.

He got his right foot caught awkwardly while trying for a contested catch on Cincinnati’s first pass of the game.

After losing star defensive end J.J. Watt to a season-ending back injury after three games, and seeing Osweiler benched after signing that huge $72 million contract, Houston certainly took time to celebrate overcoming adversity to reach the playoffs.

The Bengals have had a nightmare of a 2016 National Football League season. But now in 27 fourth quarter TD drives in which they were either winning or within seven, they’ve scored just two touchdowns and two field goals while turning it over seven times.
