A’s beat Cleveland Indians 2-1 in 10 innings

The A’s added three hits and a walk in the bottom of the inning, and took advantage of a Cleveland error to build a two-run lead that they would not look back from. The stellar performances have continued against Oakland as Carlos Carrasco pitched a complete-game two-hitter on Thursday and Danny Salazar allowed just one hit in eight innings in Friday’s 2-1 victory.

“He deserved better, ” Indians manager Terry Francona said.

One of the newest members of the A’s helped end his new team’s three-game losing streak in impressive fashion, while also earning his first ML win on Saturday night. Lindor hit an infield single with one out and left fielder Michael Brantley sliced an opposite field double to left.

The Cleveland Indians are having trouble scoring runs.

“(Brooks) had good stuff, keeping the ball down”, Chisenhall said.

Three of Bauer’s walks came in the fifth inning when Oakland scored its first run. Bauer struck out six and walked four. “The first inning he gives up an infield hit and then a double and then after that, that was it. He pounded the strike zone, just kept them at bay the whole night”. Semien added his ninth home run of the season in the seventh.

Bassitt allowed two hits after Santana’s home run, retiring 18 of the final 21 batters he faced.

Rzepczynski joined the Indians in 2013, coming over in a trade with St. Louis. Chisenhall opened the season with Cleveland and was sent down on June 7.

Brooks didn’t get out of the first inning in that game. As he neared the A’s dugout, Brooks pointed to the crowd and pumped his fist. Closer Sean Doolittle (shoulder strain) threw 31 pitches during a bullpen session….

“I had a little more downhill tilt to my fastball and I was able to locate it, ” Anderson said. And as for the noise he heard walking off the mound Saturday, this time he knew it was honest.

There are just under 60 games remaining in the season so, although there’s time to make up ground, the Indians are in a situation wherein they seemingly have to win every series from here on out. Fuld and Butler both had RBI hits with two outs, and Marcus Semien hit his ninth home run of the season in the seventh inning. Oakland has dropped five of its last six games after falling 10-7 to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday. His throw sailed into foul territory, giving the A’s a 3-1 lead.
