A’s trade 3B Lawrie to White Sox for 2 minor league pitchers
Early this morning it was reported that the Oakland Athletics and Chicago White Sox were having “serious trade discussions” regarding infielder Brett Lawrie.
The Blue Jays traded Lawrie to the A’s in November, 2014 as part of the Josh Donaldson deal.
Chicago will have team control of Lawrie through the 2017 season. He joins Gordon Beckham and Conor Gillaspie. Lawrie, 25, is now on his third major league franchise and has experience both at the hot corner and second base.
The A s bullpen was worse than their defense last season, but they ve made two veteran signings (Ryan Madson and Axford) in addition to the deal to acquire hard thrower Liam Hendriks from Toronto. 260 with 16 home runs and drove in 60 runs. He made 106 starts at third base and 40 at second base with the A’s. From both the traditional statistics, 18 errors, and sabermetric statistics, -3 total zone fielding, Lawrie is a bit of a tough sell. However, on their march through the postseason, the Royals did not need to get through Lawrie or anyone else on the White Sox this time through, potentially leading to a less violent series between the clubs. He should hit in the middle of the lineup where he can drive in runs and hit for power with some protection. 706 OPS, but he played in a career-high 149 games and tallied 48 extra-base hits. The A’s are receiving right-hander J.B. He split time between the White Sox double-A and triple-A affiliates. He also had five saves in seven opportunities. The idea that their most recent draft has already affected the major league roster was a point of emphasis for new White Sox amateur scouting director Nick Hostetler. “Sitting in this chair you want as many assets at your disposal to try to make the team better, and certainly not having to find yourself in an awkward situation where a player is a player to be named later but remains in your system for several months of his development”.
Erwin, 21, was a fourth-round pick this year and posted a 1.34 ERA in his first season in Class A.
