A selfie stick that can hold entire laptop
The Huffington Post recently published the above gallery of photos snapped by Art505 (Moises), John Yiyi and Tom Galle, artists who have made a decision to reveal the inanity of snapping selfies by taking it to the absolute extreme.
To be clear, though: These MacBook Selfie Sticks aren’t for sale. It looks like you need to hold it with two hands, though, removing the convenience of a selfie stick to begin with.
Have you ever needed to take a selfie, realized your phone was dead, and thought Dammit. As per professionals, selfie sticks when came into the market, created lot of buzz and allured lot of people.
Thankfully, that is not a problem most people will have to deal with – the MacBook Selfie Stick is not a real item but an art project created by a photography collective in NY. Plus, there’s no confirmation that it even takes pictures. By using an object that is absurd compared its original form, the artists could be blatantly attempting to offer a mirror into the self-obsessive selfie culture, which is permeating through society and delineating our value systems. Using a larger piece of technology is absurdist, bringing attention to the selfie sticks that we have gotten used to.
Not sure why the creators jumped over the I-pad sized selfie stick, perhaps that’s already too convenient for selfie-taking, but this new design definitely takes obnoxious tourist picture taking to the next level.
