A special Pokémon Nintendo Direct takes place early Saturday morning
Nintendo Directs always offer some good news so we’re hoping this 5 minute Pokemon themed Direct can do the same.
“Join us for Pokémon Direct to find out the latest about Pokémon games and celebrate 20 years of Pokémon!” said Nintendo in the announcement. This Direct will be focusing on Pokemon, which is expected to deliver more details regarding the “Pokemon Z” including its release date window.
For now, there are a total of four titles that are under the Pokemon franchise, two of which have been confirmed.
Pokémon Red and Blue launched in Japan on February 27, 1996, so the series’ birthday is coming up this Saturday. Nintendo will also release Pokken Tournament, a Tekken-style fighting game, andPokemon Go, a mobile “virtual reality” game that allows fans to catch Pokemon in the real world, later this year. We can’t wait to see what the Internet cooks up with this.
There’s been a lot of speculation around whether Nintendo would announce a brand new generation of Pokemon games, or simply reveal a third game to Pokemon X and Y – probably titled Pokemon Z.
