A Star Trek VR game is coming
Star Trek: Bridge Crew will come to Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and PlayStation VR when it launches this fall.
Though there are four seats to fill in Star Trek: Bridge Crew, you don’t need to play with three other people to enjoy the game.
In the trailer, several Star Trek actor alums including Karl Urban, Levar Burton, Jeri Ryan, all played the game, and they were truly amazed by the experience. Star Trek: Bridge Crew puts a player and their friends into the heart of a new starship, the U.S.S. Aegis, where every action and decision that is made together will determine the fate of the ship and crew. Not only that, but this new press shot shows 3 well known cast members from the cast of various Star Trek entities playing the new game with Oculus Touch controllers. The game can have up to four players in co-op, and will allow them to play as the captain, or take positions at either tactical, helm or engineering stations.
“This wasn’t anything like you see on the show”, Ryan said. “We use our imaginations so much when you’re on the set”. Add to that the ton of gameplay options, I think even non-Star Trek fans will absolutely enjoy the game. “This was incredible. It’s what it would be like if it were real”.
Star Trek: Bridge Crew marks the latest venture into virtual reality for Ubisoft, who believes in the strong potential of VR to redefine social gaming with a unique sense of reality. It’s a unique experience wherein players have to rely on one another in order to share information and tackle various tasks. It’s a plot that centers on exploration and cooperation, and it’s bound to lead to situations where you won’t know whether to raise shields and prepare for combat, or try to make first contact.
