AAA: Mich. gas prices rise 9 cents to $2.52
AAA Michigan says gas prices statewide have gone up for the third consecutive week.
Motorists continue to see lower prices at the pumps in New Jersey.
Gas prices in Maine have fallen almost 2 cents per gallon in the past week.
Any supply issues caused by refinery maintenance are likely to be regional and temporary, the Energy Information Administration stated Wednesday in its weekly report, noting that inventories of crude oil and gasoline both rose substantially the past week.
Rockford is seeing week two of a small spike in gas prices.
Prices in Fort Wayne Sunday were 70.4 cents lower than a year ago and 15.9 cents higher than last month, GasBuddy said. That’s also much lower than the national average from a year ago, when motorists were paying $3.33.
“Gas prices fluctuated during the past couple of weeks, because gasoline demand is unusually high at a time when refineries are entering their maintenance season”, said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “While Great Lakes states saw prices climb last week, western states saw sharp declines from deep discounts in wholesale fuel prices … bringing California, Washington and Oregon prices down more than 35 cents lower than where they stood a month ago”.
